The Xbox One X is the most powerful game console ever made. Its design is smaller than the already petit Xbox One S and its power blows away competition such as the PlayStation 4. Games such as Forza 7 and Gears of War 4 look incredible when running at 4K. A console this powerful deserves great games, after all, it is a game console. That being said, accessories are also incredibly important. If you’ve owned a games console before, chances are that you’ve purchased some accessories to go along with it. This list rounds up the top 10 Xbox One X accessories that I could find! They won’t all be for everyone, but you’ll more than likely find at least a couple that you think are worthy of a purchase.
1) Xbox One Elite Controller
The Xbox One Elite Controller is essentially an extreme edition of the original Xbox One Controller. It features the same ergonomic design but adds a host of new buttons and features to enhance your gameplay. The biggest addition has to be the four customizable paddle buttons on the back. They’re similar to what you’ll find on a scuf controller (which is a good thing). You can program each paddle to perform a different button press, which can be beneficial in a lot of titles. The Elite controller also offers interchangeable analogue sticks and d-pad. In the box, you get three sets of analogue sticks that range in height and design as well as a more accurate d-pad which you can swap out for the standard one if you like. Custom profiles and lockable trigger buttons are also present which is awesome! If you’re serious about gaming, look no further than the Xbox One Elite Controller.
2) Xbox One Play and Charge Kit
Is there anything worse than when your controller turns off during a game of FIFA, Overwatch or Call of Duty? No? I didn’t think so either. It’s frustrating and tedious having to constantly change the batteries in your controller. That’s exactly why picking up the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit is worth it. When your controller gets low on battery, simply plug it into the USB port on the side of your Xbox One X and voila, your controller is charging back up to 100%. It’s not a big deal for a lot of people, changing controller batteries, but the convenience of only needing to plug your controller into your Xbox to charge it is pretty cool.
3) External Hard drive
This is a must-have for all Xbox One X owners. The Xbox One X can play games at 4K resolution, this means two things. One, the games look amazing! Two, the games take up a huge amount of space on the Xbox One X’s 1TB hard drive. Some games can even use around 100GB of storage, that’s 10% of your entire hard drive! Getting an external drive solves this problem by significantly increasing your Xbox One X storage. They come in a multitude of different sizes, averaging from 500GB to 4TB. They’re super easy to setup and can also be used to take your game collection with you wherever you go which is a great bonus. This is a must-have if you intend to play a lot of games or you Xbox One X!
4) Standard Xbox One Controller
So you’re probably thinking, ‘what do I need another controller for, one comes in the box?’. Well, while online gaming can be incredibly fun and competitive, there’s nothing quite like playing with your mates or family in the same room. Playing FIFA 18 or Call of Duty Zombies is simply more enjoyable when you’re actually next to the people your playing with. A second (or even third and fourth) controller gives you the ability to do just that and it’s well worth it.
5) Controller Stand
If you take pride in how your gaming setup looks, then you may want to consider getting a stand for your controllers. Putting your controllers on a stand rather than laying flat gives your gaming setup a cleaner and slicker look. They’re inexpensive and are a great addition to any Xbox One X gaming setup.
6) Vertical Xbox One X Stand
For a lot of people, having your Xbox lay horizontally is no problem. Although, having it horizontal can often take up too much precious space either in your living room or on your desk. What’s why the vertical Xbox One X Stand is essential to so many people. Microsoft doesn’t include one in the standard retail version of the Xbox One X, and they don’t sell one separately either (yet). Don’t fret, however, thankfully there are third party options out there which do an excellent job! If you want to stand your Xbox One X up vertically, a vertical stand is an absolute necessity.
7) Gaming Headset (SteelSeries Arctis 7)
If you’re looking for the most immersive gaming experience, a gaming headset something you should seriously consider. A gaming headset helps to block out background noise and gives you a much more immersive experience. The excellent stereo sound that you get from a gaming headset is difficult to replicate with a TV unless you have a proper surround sound setup. Being able to hear exactly which direction an enemy player is coming from can be crucial when playing online in games such as Call of Duty and Overwatch. If you want the best immersion possible, it’s definitely worth picking up a gaming headset such as the SteelSeries Arctis 7.
8) Xbox One Media Remote
Not only is the Xbox One X a terrific gaming machine, it’s also a great media device. It has a 4K Blueray drive and can stream online services such as Netflix in 4K as well. Playing, pausing and navigating through menus is by no means bad using an Xbox One Controller, but having a dedicated remote streamlines the whole experience. You can play, pause and scrub through videos much more easily than you could using the Xbox One controller, which is very awkward to do with one hand. Especially if you plan on using your Xbox One X in the living room, the Xbox One Media remote is worth picking up.
9) Xbox Live
Despite the Xbox One X already having a fairly hefty price tag, you’ll have to pay even more if you want to play online. And let’s face it, you probably will. Despite this cost, Xbox Live does offer some additional benefits on top of access to online gaming. Such as Games with Gold which gives you free games every month, this includes both Xbox One titles and Xbox 360 titles. You also get money off certain titles on the Xbox Store and Xbox Party chat for talking to friends. If you want to game online, Xbox Live is a must.
10) Xbox Chatpad
Sending messages on Xbox can be a strenuous task; using the keyboard onscreen is slow and a cumbersome. If only there were a physical keyboard that made sending messages quick and easy? Ah ha! The Xbox Chatpad is the answer, it attaches to the bottom of your controller and that’s it. You no longer have to bear the pain of typing out a message using the d-pad or analogue stick. It even has a backlight so you can see the keys that you’re pressing when your playing in the dark. It’s a definite buy if you’re someone who uses the Xbox chat functionality often!
