The OnePlus 6 specifications have officially been announced and they’re exactly what you expected. OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, announced in a forum post that the OnePlus 6 will feature the Snapdragon 845 with up to 8GB of RAM.
OnePlus has almost always utilized the latest and greatest Snapdragon Processors, so the 845 powering the OnePlus 6 is no surprise. The 8GB of RAM isn’t that exciting either, both the OnePlus 5 and 5t boasted the same. What is interesting, however, is the fact that OnePlus stated that it’s ‘up to’ 8GB of RAM. Meaning, we will likely see two variants (not including different colours) of the OnePlus 6.
OnePlus 6 Rumors
There’s been a lot of rumors and leaks surrounding the OnePlus 6 in recent weeks. So let’s take a look at what else their is to expect.
OnePlus 6 Price
As mentioned in the forum post, the OnePlus 6 will have 256GB of storage. That’s double that of last years OnePlus 5/5T. The entry-level model will likely cost around $600 and have 6GB of RAM coupled with 128GB of storage. The more expensive version will cost around $700 and will include 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.
This is a substantial price increase, around $100 dearer than the OnePlus 5t. That being said this is on trend with other smartphone manufacturers over the last year. Samsung, Apple, HTC and LG have all raised the starting price for their flagship smartphones.
OnePlus 6 Display
The OnePlus 6 will be the first OnePlus device to feature the ever-alluring notch. The OnePlus 6’s notch, much like the Processor and RAM, has been confirmed by OnePlus and isn’t just a rumor. There will be a software addition which lets you especially hide the notch if you wish. OnePlus will do this by making the status bar black either side of the notch.
As for the display size, this is currently being rumoured to be 6.28-inches with a 1080 x 2280 resolution. This is a marginal increase over the OnePlus 5t’s 6.01-inch display. Still no Quad HD display would be a shame, but there’s no denying that 1080p is beneficial to battery life.
Other OnePlus 6 specifications
On the subject of battery life, the OnePlus 6 is currently rumoured to pack a 3450 mAh cell. This is a slight increase over the OnePlus 5T’s 3300 mAh battery.
As for the camera, the OnePlus 6 camera is pegged to be the same as the OnePlus 5T’s. The 5T had a dual camera setup consisting of a 20mp and 16mp sensor. The front facing camera will see a slight increase in its megapixel count though, from 16mp to 20mp. Do bear in mind, these are just rumors and this could all change before it’s released sometime in Spring.

As for everything else. It’s currently looking as though the OnePlus 6 will retain the headphone jack, something OnePlus is openly proud of. It will also retain it’s single bottom firing speaker and lack of water resistance, this will be to keep the cost down.
The OnePlus 6 will be one of the best phones of 2018
Judging by the current compilation of rumours, combined with OnePlus’s history, it’s hard to picture the OnePlus 6 not being a superb smartphone. OnePlus’s speedy software powered by the Snapdragon 845 will be a killer combo. If you can see past a lower resolution display and lack of water resistance, the OnePlus 6 will almost certainly be the smartphone to beat.
